Nyerere National Park features Africa’s most extensive wilderness region and relatively undisturbed ecological and biological processes, encompassing a diverse array of animals with significant predator-prey dynamics.
The Rufiji River, renowned for its hippo and rhino population, flows into the Indian Ocean. The river is a popular tourist attraction and has been designated as a photography area. The extent of gaming in Nyerere is very remarkable! The park and the surviving section of Selous include an abundance of elephants, buffalo, and lions, as well as the final bastion of African wild dogs.

Day 1 – Depart for Selous Game Reserve and embark on an evening boat safari
Upon pickup from the Dar es Salaam hotel or airport, you will be transported for around five to six hours, inclusive of lunch, to Selous Game Reserve. Upon arrival, go to check in at Selous Mapumziko Lodge. Embark on an evening boat safari along the Rufiji River.
This 3 Days Nyerere National Park wildlife Safari offers the opportunity to observe aquatic fauna, predominantly crocodiles and hippos. Experience a stunning sunset while watching animals that have gathered to drink, with an immense variety of bird species, as the reserve hosts over 440 distinct species. Return for dinner in the late evening and overnight at Selous Mapumziko Lodge. Both dinner and lunch are provided.
Day 2 of the Nyerere National Park safari - Comprehensive wildlife drive at Selous wildlife Reserve
Following an early breakfast at seven o’clock in the morning, you will proceed to the Nyerere National Park. Accompanied by a professional guide in a specially modified safari vehicle, you will embark on a full-day game drive, where you are likely to observe and gain knowledge about various animals, including the renowned lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and other significant species, such as the rare African hunting dog.
In addition to breathtaking landscapes and varied topography featuring wetlands, arid grasslands, sparse acacia woods, and elevated regions with extensive views of distant mountains, there will also be a significant variety of avian species. Enjoy your packed lunch and unwind.
Your guide will select a location with nearby shade and water to enable unobtrusive observation of approaching predators as they arrive to drink. At 6:30 p.m., you will return to Selous Mapumziko Lodge for dinner and sunset viewing. Breakfast, lunch, and supper are included.
Day 3 - Morning walking safari followed by departure to Dar es Salaam
To explore the reserve’s history, including its indigenous medicinal trees, animal footprints, and elusive little fauna not observable during the game drive, you will embark on an early morning walking safari with a bushman. You will subsequently return to the camp for breakfast.
Following breakfast, go to Dar es Salaam, pausing for lunch the route. Upon your early evening arrival, the safari guide will either transport you to your lodgings or assist you in boarding your flight home. Both lunch and breakfast are encompassed.
