Togoro Plains – Serengeti National Park
Togoro Plains is situated in the Serengeti Central region of northern Tanzania. The Serengeti is a significant national park, the unequivocal centerpiece of the remarkable Northern Tanzania safari region and arguably the premier wildlife reserve in East Africa.
A prevalent misperception is that the Serengeti is an expansive, unending grassland; yet, it encompasses a diverse array of landscapes and ecosystems. The region is renowned for its extensive wildebeest migration, a continuous year-round phenomenon. Moreover, it is the most prolific region in Africa for lions and cheetahs.
The Serengeti merits visitation year-round, typically as an element of an extended overland safari in the region, often involving accommodations in two or three distinct sub-regions.
About Togoro Plains
Togoro Plains is situated in the Togoro Plains region, approximately 40 km north of Seronera in the central Serengeti and a same distance from Lobo in northeast Serengeti.
The camp comprises 14 tents situated among the rocks of the kopje. Each tent ensures comfort and features a terrace that presents a stunning view of the expansive untamed savannah. The sturdy wooden furnishings and decor of the tents enhance their exquisite charm.
The camp’s communal areas are notable for their expansive size and close proximity to the natural surroundings. The establishment encompasses a restaurant, a bar with a terrace, and a lounge space featuring bohemian-chic design that is simultaneously relaxing and stylish.
Central Serengeti
The expansive Serengeti Valley serves as the core of the Serengeti, offering exceptional wildlife observation throughout the year.
The primary migration of wildebeests and zebras typically occurs around April to May and November to December.
In the Moru region, herds can congregate significantly, producing a notably striking display during the April-May season, when the animals migrate north in elongated formations and the wildebeest engage in rutting behavior.
Throughout the primary dry season from June to October, numerous species congregate in Seronera in pursuit of water. The observation of lions and cheetahs is remarkable, since the populations of these felines are the largest in Africa currently, making it typical to witness over 100 lions and 20 cheetahs in a single day.
Off-road driving is authorized in certain remote areas, providing a significant benefit in circumventing vehicular congestion and optimizing wildlife observations. Serengeti Central is the most congested area of the reserve, making it essential to meticulously organize your safari to avoid vehicle congestion and preserve an authentic sense of nature.
