Things to do at Ushongo Beach
Things to do at Ushongo Beach, We have recently become enamored with the Tanzanian shore at Ushongo Beach and have no desire to depart. The sensation of being marooned on the coasts of Africa, in nations such as Tanzania, Mozambique, or Kenya, is genuinely enchanting. The sensation is incomparable to the beaches of Greece, Jamaica, Thailand, or Zanzibar. Discovering the ideal beach in Africa evokes a genuine sense of exploration. We discovered this at Ushongo Beach. The Tanzanian coast is dotted with dhows, white sand, azure ocean, and thousands of palm palms. It all means you’re never far from fresh fish, a peaceful place to unwind, cool water, and coconut water. In other words, this is our happy spot. We spent a lot of time on Zanzibar soaking up the island sun, but we were still not ready to leave Tanzania’s beaches. So we set our sights on a location with fewer tourists and more silence. This is exactly what draws people to Ushongo Beach and The Tides Lodge.
After finding a new travel companion, we headed to The Tides Lodge on Ushongo Beach near Pangani. A collection of seven beach bungalows and three suites/houses spread across the isolated beach. Each cottage has an ensuite bathroom and plenty of space. We awoke in the morning, well rejuvenated, to the sounds of the ocean and a sea breeze.
The cottage featured a dedicated foot wash station, as footwear is unnecessary at The Tides Lodge. A private veranda and individual sun loungers situated on the beach are few steps away. The beach is an expansive bay of white sand, bordered by palm palms, and contains the tempting warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Food On The Tanzanian Coast
Upon reaching locations as secluded as The Tides Lodge, one should not be preoccupied with dinner arrangements. In Africa, it is customary for lodges to provide half-board and full-board alternatives. Breakfast at the lodge comprised fresh fruit juice, coffee, fruit salad, eggs, muesli, and menu selections such as huevos rancheros, which I particularly enjoy. The noon menu featured tapas and light fare ideal for warm beach days, while dinner offered a fresh assortment of seafood.
